Spring/Summer New Bands, Remixes, & Covers (ONE MORE ADDED 6/1)

One More Cover(compliments of my buddy Sean)--This guy is amazingly talented! again another UK home-run and much better than the original---http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqKhDYIo4fs

So sometimes I get a tad lazy and just post all my new band likes, Remixes & Covers on Facebook instead of on my blog.. (Note to self, Add me as a FB friend for all the latest news!-- you're really missing out!)

But I've compiled all of my recent ''likes'' here we go all compliments of Somekindofawesome.com.

New Favorite Band Little Comets

Another UK band..definitely a fun funky new wave type of feel love the drums and eccentric vocals on this song! Single To be released June 11th.

I've had their new album published on my Spotify playlists, difficult one to describe or pigeon-hole, so check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

New Favorite Cover of an Extremely Annoying original

Carly Rae Jepsen's song Call Me Maybe has been blowing up the charts and radiowaves for awhile.. This interpretation by UK newcomer Ben Howard was performed for BBC Radio Lounge--

The string arrangement is masterfully executed and I could isolate that part and listen to it on repeat, the broken staccato chorus and acoustic give the tune a hauntingly beautiful, eerily simple sound.

On to a few that are more mainstream pop/rock--

Morning Parade, (UK rock band previously mentioned on this blog for their single Close to Your Heart) will have much more exposure after covering the Black Keys Gold on the Ceiling. It's a much more mellow rock approach than the original, so if you're open minded and are aware of that going in. It is actually a good cover

Ellie Goulding just did a cover of the Weeknd produced by Xaphoon Jones (Chiddy Bang)
probably one of the sexiest covers I've heard. I was beginning to think her 15 minutes of fame was over based off the singles Starry Eyed & Lights. Although Lights video is on rotation at VH1 and she's already worked the late night circuit, not sure she's received as much sucess here in the States as she has in her home country. Well.. this track should definitely help. (FREE DOWNLOAD!)--

Calvin Harris did a remix of Florence & the Machine's new single Spectrum-- not a fan of the original version, although I am a fan of F&M I don't think this was the best single to take off the Ceremonials Album.

You wouldn't think that one of her songs could be a summer hit but I predict this collaboration might get some serious radio play in the near future. (FREE DOWNLOAD!)

Lesson: If you're an indie UK band looking to go big.. Cover a mainstream American song or do a remix with a hot producer.. but do it BETTER than the original! So far I haven't been dissappointed!:/

Even if I am partial to UK culture, this entry is an unbiased look at what's trending/posted in the music world right now :) and I love it!
